Darien Gap Expedition

Important!

Private Trek Only!

Currently, we only offer this trip on a private basis and for a minimum of four (4) people.

12 days / 11 nights   or    14 days / 13 nights

Explore the inside of one of Central America’s most fabled regions, the Darien. With its exuberant rainforests, endless meandering rivers, and its local people, here is an expedition of a lifetime.

  • We have reformatted our expeditions in order to give you an even better experience.

In the past we used to post a trip date on our calendar and wait for people to sign up. Unfortunately, we would get enquiries from solo travelers or couples wanting to do a customized version of our treks on dates that were different from our advertised departures. As much as we tried to accommodate people, it was almost impossible to get everyone to agree on a date.

So we have removed all that by partnering up with international outfitters who are now in charge of marketing and enrollment while we dedicate ourselves to designing, organizing, and leading these treks, which is really what we love to do.

  • We still offer trekkers the option to customize their trips

But we require a minimum of four participants, and we prefer to begin organizing these trips several months in advance as our high-season calendar fills up fast. If you're considering a multi-day trek for your next holiday, please get in touch with us as soon as possible, preferrably before you even purchase your plane ticket. If you contact us when you're just about to arrive in Panama, it's usually too late for us to put together a trek and for you to prepare and get the appropriate equipment.

  • If you're traveling solo or with a partner, or have fewer than 4 people in your group

Perhaps you would like to take a look at our Hike & Paddle options (Chagres River and Camino de Cruces). These are day trips through the jungle that combine hiking with packrafting, with the trip ending at the edge of the Panama Canal. The Camino de Cruces in particular is quite interesting since it's the sister route of the Camino Real, used at a thoroughfare to travel accross the Isthmus. The history aspect of it is just as fascinating. We provide a backpack and a packraft with its accessories for you to carry.
