Explore the inside of one of Central America’s most fabled regions, the Darien. With its exuberant rainforests, endless meandering rivers, and its local people, here is an expedition of a lifetime. One of the best ways to experience the Darien is by joining our custom trips. Please enquire about the multiple possibilities. For example, one of our journeys begins with a commercial flight out of Panama City to the village of Sambu.
A dugout canoe then takes the expedition members to Pavarandó, a small hamlet on the shores of the upper Sambu River. From this point on we commence the 6 day tramp southbound through the jungle, crossing rivers and climbing mountains until we reach the head waters of Piñas River. We then descend its course to the coastal town of Bahía Piñas, on the Pacific Ocean; just in time to enjoy that cold beer we’ve been longing for all these days. Check out this short clip from one of our last treks in the Darien.
